Precision Spot Light for Automated Depalletisation

In this automated depalletisation application, a robot identifies and grips stacked crates using dedicated grip holes. A machine vision system is used to accurately detect these holes, with lighting playing a critical role in ensuring reliable and repeatable detection.

Four cameras and four Z-Spot precision spot lights are positioned adjacent to one another, providing targeted illumination that enables the robot to reliably locate the grip holes and safely grip the crates.

TPL Vision’s Z-Spot features a built-in lockable zoom lens with position repeatability, allowing the beam size and focus to be precisely adjusted for the application. Positioned alongside each camera, the Z-Spot delivers high-contrast illumination exactly where it is needed, while its compact design makes it easy to integrate into space-constrained robotic vision systems.

Why the Z-Spot is Ideal for this Application:

Focused Illumination

Produces a narrow, adjustable beam that enhances contrast on key features, enabling reliable grip hole detection at a range of working distances.

Compact Design

The low LED count and small form factor make it easy to integrate into space-constrained robotic and machine vision systems.

Easy Integration

Mount easily alongside cameras without increasing the system footprint.

High Brightness and Uniformity

Delivers bright, homogeneous illumination for consistent image quality and reliable inspection results.

Lockable Zoom Lens

Allows the beam angle to be precisely adjusted and locked in place, ensuring repeatable performance after installation.

Optimised for Precision Applications

Provides targeted illumination exactly where it is needed, reducing stray light and improving feature visibility.
